MY FIRST ACTING ROLE!!

So after 10+ yrs of jumpin onstage like a monkey and numerous music video shoots and tv interviews, one would assume i would be comfortable in front of the camera... uh uh...it was nervewrecking!!!
I guess cos this time i had lines to remember and had to actually act...anyways, the shuvits were invited by our good friend Ariff Aris to cameo in his independent flick menipuLATE...
We've always wanted to try our hand at acting and this was an awesome opportunity for us to see if we had the chops and also to help a buddy out...well how did it go? Dunno la....i don't think acting is my thing but i really wanna see how it turns out on the big screen first before judging...
Anyways, the scene we were in was pretty simple...Its a romantic drama so we (Pop Shuvit) were hanging out at a cafe and I had to pick up this hot chick with a very very very lame pick up line.... quite malufying also lah but it was a lot of fun....

Cinnamon begins filming for "menipuLATE"

16 Jun – The cast and crew of upcoming indie flick "menipuLATE" is halfway through filming as they wrapped up a day's work around the areas of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI) last Saturday, 14 June. Two scenes were shot at the TTDI park and one more at the Spices Of Asia restaurant in the Jalan Dato' Sulaiman area of TTDI.

Only two of the cast members were required to be present for the day's filming, signalling the absence of the majority of the cast but both Claudia Low and Tuan Faisal took comfortable stage to the day's work. Low and Faisal play two lovebirds who find new faith in each other after a disconcerting experience with their exes.
The shoot also marks Cinnamon's first take as a nondescript member of the cast, appearing as Ayu's (Claudia Low) favourite stuffed toy. Cinnamon will appear in several scenes throughout the film, including Ayu and Faris' (Tuan Faisal) first date and a bedroom scene with Ayu and her girlfriends.
"Today's scheduling has been great so far. We had a delay of only half an hour and got exactly everything we wanted… everything was perfect," said director Ariff Aris at wrap-up after seven hours of filming.

The first-time director relishes the fact that so far, 90 per cent of the film has been the way as he wanted it to be. "There were a few hiccups here and there but everything is going pretty good I'd say," said Ariff, adding that one of the biggest challenges in creating the movie is the unpredictable weather, next to constant scheduling conflicts.
"menipuLATE" will focus more on the artistic value of a film and strive to break the norm of commercialism. The crew has brainstormed on different ways to film a movie and it is said that the movie will feature unique art direction and concept as well as treatment.

Next weekend, the crew will be shooting some of the film's final scenes in Kuala Lumpur, including one with a cameo appearance by local rock group Pop Shuvit and of course, more of Cinnamon. This will be the crew's biggest shoot yet with 90 per cent of the cast and crew poised to attend, located at Rahsia Bistro in KL. According to Ariff, the band will have a minor speaking role and their scene involves them picking up some girls at the location. Unfortunately, the band will not be contributing any songs to the soundtrack, he explained.

Cinema Online also clears the air with director Ariff on the purported love scenes in the film, to which he commented, "There is a love scene but I don't want it to be a 'juicy' love scene. I believe we don't need scenes of people holding hands to show love."
Filming for "menipuLATE" is to complete by the end of June 2008.

Cinnamon to star in his first feature film!

5 May – Finally, Cinema Online's very own star has a chance to shine in an upcoming local indie film, "menipuLATE", which is currently in production. Cinnamon will be seen in several shots including a scene in the bedroom where the female lead, Claudia Low, cuddles her favourite soft toy Cinnamon while chatting with friends about love and relationships. He will also accompany her on a blind date as she totes him around in her bag.
Cinnamon is no stranger to celebrities, having rubbed shoulders (and paws!) with international stars like Maggie Q, Fann Wong, Shawn Yue, Mark Lee, Erra Fazira and Kak Ogy in recent months, to name a few. However, this is his first time on the set of a movie he will actually be featured in, which is an exciting new experience with, hopefully, many more to follow.
"Shooting went great although last week we were a bit short on manpower, and since it was the first day and all, it was a little messy. All in all, we were only late by one hour and managed to keep to the shooting schedule as planned," Ariff said when Cinema Online met with him yesterday (Sunday) at the promotional shoot.
"menipuLATE" is currently in production and is slated for release early 2009.

It has been weeks since i've written anything in this Blog, and please forgive me if you occasionally drop by this blog and has yet to see any updates, it's just that lately we've been extremely busy doing this and that and sorting out so many things to do with the production that im happy to announce to you that we've officially completed 3 scenes!
Last sunday, we shot 3 Scenes @ 2 Seperate locations =) it went great and though, last week we were a bit short on manpower and since it's the first day and all, it was a little messy =P. All in all, we were only late by 1 hour and managed to keep to time just as planned.

It's been a few weeks now, been meeting up with few casts here & there, talking to them & getting to know each and every cast better. All these guys are all different and interesting in their own way and it's going to be fun to see all of em work together in this movie. I've got many interesting feedbacks and inputs from the cast after handing them the script. We've considered several feedbacks and this works well for everyone as it'll improve the movie making process.
